It's July, It's Hot

The abundance in August is thrilling, but I often find myself swamped by the sheer amount of seasonal food that's available to us in high summer. With the wonderful array of produce means there's no excuse for not eating fresh. Courgettes are at their prime in August and my Rigatoni with Courgettes, Lemon and Basil is refreshing enough for a summer's evening.

I can't think of summer without picturing my children wrestling with huge, delicious slices of pink watermelon. For an easier way to enjoy the taste of this great warm-weather treat, freedom from sticky hands (almost) guaranteed, why not try making my Melon and Lime Sorbet?

A wise cook makes the most of this time of plenty. I tend to gather double quantities - one for dinner and one for the freezer. I have a lovely recipe for Green Leaf and Pea Soup on my recipe page which is a great dish to serve cool on a summer's night or keep in the freezer to serve piping hot in autumn.
